We do not know the outer world but the world representing to our senses, the world as phenomenon. yes, we interpret the world in terms of ourselves as humans, That’s Immanuel Kant’s worldview

As for logic, it was largely due to the language itself, for the meanings were largely defined in the words to use from which raises the ‘from’, symbol or abstraction, and ‘things’ – or I should say concepts which became the objects of thinking were linked to each other because there were potentially connected due to the meanings already defined in the language, as far as the connections are discovered or maybe though the reflection of the meanings(?), it is easy to put them in different categories for the convenience of thinking)

when people do not need to have systematic theories/models in the heads to apply the world representing to our senses to explain it to feel certain? Yes, when people perceive the lack/absence/need of it, people will develop it, in China we did not need to develop logic. So this is just because we lived in different civilisations. Intelligence is to grasp the rules which the mind integrates with the sources and reproduces it (yes, the intelligence’s creativity). Like the IQ test, there are three figures indicating the rules for us to reproduces the forth – yes creativity (calculation as many people define thinking as), it only matters when people perceive the need of it, once people perceive and develop it, and meanwhile they also perceive their greed… it becomes a problem! It can be helpful, and it can be harmful. Yes, need to learn conscience!

As I just mentioned calculation as thinking. I think thought is easier than art, the former is simply calculation, the are difficult only when there are sets of simple rules combined in and there are several steps to calculate. Computing imitates these well.

  1. While this is true that thinking is bound to language for many people, this is not so accurate for High Potential (HP) ones.

They have a different thinking scheme or I would say, a more versatile one.
It’s more like fitting the thinking process for the faced situation.

That mean that most “normal” people can explain easily how they handle this or that while Some HP can explain easily how they could solve this or that. In other words, a soon they start to process, they quickly adapt the way they think to make it easier.

It’s also why they can make a lot more connection between concepts since their mind is “unbound”.

Of course, it has a cost since they have to make a kind of translation when they’ve to explain their though.
(Some kind of linearisation and finding stronger links).

Also HP are able to go far in abstraction, in fact used to do so.
They do not need to make it concrete in some way to work on it. So they don’t need language.

Some of them learn language in a late stage of development (Eg. after 3 years old) since they do not need it to communicate but they can quickly become proficient in later.(Generally, they have a broader vocabulary)

To summarize : Most HP are free of language when thinking where most “normal” people actually need it. It’s why HP are often able to express themselves naturally in at least two languages without having to go forth and back from their mother tong. (Actually thinking in the language they use or better have their thoughts automatically translated in this language)
It’s easy to test : These people use word that haven’t equivalence in other languages. So when you ask them to translate it in their mother tong, they have to think twice! (others don’t since they don’t use such words)

    • Jun Wang says:

For most people, when they are required to handle a situation, they apply the thinking schemas they adapted to map the situation, and of course, this is to handle the situation, if they success, they will be happy, but if they lose, they rather blame, this is why largely normal people like to interpret the world in terms to themselves, though we all do to some extent.

To be creative requires the understanding of the way of the nature of the things and reproduce to make things happen the way they expect.

People can actually find correspondent sounds and images to attach their emotions, but thought is in the form of languages, be that symbols, or concepts

To learn a new language is the excise of the thinking, for the mother tongue because a words vocabulary, and they respond to sentences to sentences via unconditioned reflex, and they rarely think, this is sort of slip tongue, when we speak our mother language, especially in the dairy use, we speak of the words without thinking… but we try to use a new language, we have to think when we learn and use.

      Thanks and regards! Jun

      • thought can be defined two way :
As an expression of associations which clearly require a kind of language.
As associations, images, feeling which do not require any kind of language.

In fact, we could recognize people that use language as support of though from people that use though as language support simply by analysing their answers 😉

The first one will give a “bullet point answer”, that means that they will answer to each of your point in order.
The last one will throw thought in a unordered way. In fact, it won’t appear ordered because they’ll make links, multiple links. So the answer to a point will be across the whole development. They appear to be less structured because they use a more complex structure.(Let’s says that people tend to perceive linear structure and not multi-dimensional structure since they can only focus on one stream at once).

This last part is important in communication since it can make it unidirectional if there is not effort to choose the easiest path from the “non structured” party!

There is test about “grammatical-reasoning” (http://www.cambridgebrainsciences.com/browse/reasoning/test/grammatical-reasoning) [take it].
The easiest way to score is to forget about language and see the picture then match it. It’s far easier than trying to negate the sentence or rephrase it. Of course, if your language support your though, you’ll have some difficulty doing so 🙂

Now, my point of view is biased since I do not have a standard way of thinking.

What would be great is a test on HP and non HP people to see how they actually handle verbal task and abstract task (G factor).

        • Jun Wang says:

As for the test of the grammatical thinking reasoning… I think it is better to read the words first and then view the pictures, for otherwise after viewing the picture, it is time to match it with the sentence whilst there are several structures of sentences, it takes more time to think of the sentence to match…

If we read the sentence, and create the pattern in abstraction, and there’s only one step left, that’s to match the pattern in the abstraction with the picture bellow, and clink true or false…

Associations of images or concepts? A image is not a thought, a series of images in order is imagination, or thinking (which includes association of images), any concept can be deduced to atomic

But for now, thought is largely visual, and other objects of thinking need to be visualised, yes with a media…

Thought is larger than languages and, and languages’ attributes limit the thought and limit the world we can think of, thought is beyond language, but is expressed in language…

Language of static notions limit the thought more, but thought with dynamic notions, images and so leave room for us to feel… and poetry or art starts where logic stops… That’s why we feel when reading literature which has different structures, with logic as one dimension, but also the tongue, context as the other dimensions to feel the psyche, emotions….

          Thanks and regards! Jun
